The new museum in Treviso is a composition of a single city plot by means of an urban typology: a public square – a façade – a gallery – a sequence of spaces – an atrium, wrote architect Tesar when he was confronted with a brief to reconstruct and remodel the museum. In 2010, the city of Treviso launched a competition for the design, restoration and permanent display of the Bailo Museum, which was won by Heinz Tesar and Studiomas, architects from Padua (Marco Raposselli and Piero Pugina). The purpose of the project was to work out a functional reorganization of the entire complex, to strengthen the structure, improve the installation system, carefully restore the original elements of the historic building, and set up a collection of paintings and sculptures donated to the city by collector Luigi Bailo.
